Cookie & Tracking Policy

Effective Date: 10 February 2026 Last Updated: 10 February 2026

This Cookie & Tracking Policy explains how DiscoverWorthy ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our platform.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. They help websites remember information about your visit, such as your authentication status.

2. Cookies We Use

2.1. Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the Platform to function. They cannot be disabled.

Cookie NamePurposeDurationType
session_tokenAuthentication — identifies your logged-in session30 dayshttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax

This is the only cookie we set. It is required to keep you logged in and does not track your behavior across websites.

2.2. No Third-Party Cookies

We do not use:

  • Google Analytics
  • Facebook Pixel
  • Any advertising or retargeting cookies
  • Any third-party tracking cookies

3. Analytics Tracking

We operate a self-hosted, privacy-focused analytics system. This system does not use cookies for tracking.

3.1. What We Collect

When you visit our marketing pages, our analytics system records:

  • Page path and title — which page you visited
  • Hashed visitor ID — a one-way hash that resets daily (we cannot track you across days)
  • Session ID — groups page views in a single visit
  • Referrer URL and domain — how you arrived at our site
  • UTM parameters — campaign tracking (source, medium, campaign, term, content)
  • Device type — desktop, mobile, or tablet
  • Browser and OS — e.g., Chrome on Windows
  • Country and region — derived from your IP address (we do not store your IP)
  • Screen dimensions — width and height

3.3. Blog Post Engagement

For published blog posts, we track:

  • View count per post
  • Visitor ID (same daily-reset hashed ID)
  • Referrer domain
  • Device type and country
  • Rate limited to 1 view per visitor per post per 5 minutes (prevents inflation)

3.4. Custom Events

We may track engagement events such as:

  • Scroll depth
  • Time on page
  • Engaged visits (meaningful interaction)

These events contain no personally identifiable information.

4. Local Storage

We may store non-personal UI preferences in your browser's localStorage, such as:

  • Editor preferences (e.g., sidebar state)
  • Dismissed prompts or tooltips
  • UI theme preferences

This data never leaves your browser and is not sent to our servers.

5. How to Control Cookies

5.1. Session Cookie

The session cookie is required for the Platform to function. If you block it:

  • You will not be able to log in
  • You will not be able to use any authenticated features

To delete it, log out of DiscoverWorthy or clear your browser cookies for our domain.

5.2. Analytics Tracking

UK Users: Our analytics tracking requires your consent under PECR. See our UK Cookie Consent Notice for how to opt in or out.

All Users: You can block our analytics tracking by:

  • Using a browser extension that blocks JavaScript (e.g., NoScript)
  • Using a privacy-focused browser with built-in tracking protection
  • Disabling JavaScript (not recommended—the Platform requires JavaScript)

5.3. Browser Settings

Most browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Cookies
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and Site Permissions

6. Do Not Track

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no universal standard for how websites should respond to DNT. Our analytics system treats all visitors with the same privacy protections regardless of DNT settings—we do not engage in cross-site tracking under any circumstances.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
